New-Build Hotel, Salcombe
Following tidal damage, the Salcombe Hotel redevelopment created a new 50-bed hotel and 10 luxury apartments across timber-frame and concrete construction. Around 1,800 m² of Gyvlon Thermio and SoundBar was specified for UFH performance and acoustic separation. The pour completed without cracking or stability issues.
The challenge
Following tidal damage, the proposed redevelopment of the old hotel would create a new 50-bed hotel and 10 luxury apartments.
The building was a mix of traditional concrete and timber frame incorporating UFH, including an upper deck spa/bar and beach bar.
The solution
To meet the demands and requirements for the different building materials, the architect chose the Gyvlon range of flowing screed.
Using Thermio for the areas of UFH and SoundBar for the new timber-frame built hotel.
Results
Gyvlon Thermio gave BBA-certified thermal performance for the UFH, whilst Gyvlon SoundBar gave a solid floor finish for the timber-frame part including excellent sound proofing for the hotel.
All completed without any issues, cracking or stability issues within a couple of pours.
