Project Overview

A residential renovation project in Maldon. This 3-bedroom semi-detached property underwent a full ground floor refurbishment, including the installation of an underfloor heating system serving the lounge, open plan kitchen/diner, hallway, utility and downstairs lavatory.

Working alongside Ready2Pour, the project presented several technical challenges around floor levels and screed depths.

The Challenge

The existing substrate was not completely level, which would typically result in increased screed thickness and reduced efficiency of the UFH system.

The Solution

An uneven corner, located within a future alcove with built-in shelving, was isolated, allowing the main floor area to benefit from a thinner, more efficient flow screed

A level change between the kitchen and utility areas was reduced as much as possible with the builder, avoiding excessive screed depth while maintaining safe transitions

Result

These adjustments ensured the screed depth remained optimal (circa 20 mm in critical areas), significantly improving the performance and responsiveness of the underfloor heating system.

A great example of how early collaboration and practical problem-solving on site can enhance both system performance and overall project outcomes.
